Tesla FSD Slovakia: TAD approval status

Tesla Assisted Driving, TAD (FSD), used to be called FSD Supervised. It is not available in Slovakia yet. The transport ministry say they will recognise the Dutch approval. Nobody has confirmed the letter was actually sent, so the tracker still says Recognition Pending.

Recognition Pending

Minister says the recognition letter to the RDW is due within days (7 Oct 2026). Not sent yet. No customer FSD.

Regulator: Štátny dopravný úrad (State Transport Office), under the Ministry of Transport

Last change: 7 October 2026

What this means for owners: Nothing to switch on yet. No customer release in Slovakia, and nobody has given a date.

Slovakia Tesla FSD: is TAD available right now?

No. There is no customer release in Slovakia.

On 7 October 2026 the transport minister, Jozef Ráž, posted a video. He said his ministry would send the Netherlands a letter recognising the Dutch approval in the coming days. Then the system could be used on Slovak roads.

Reuters picked it up on 8 October 2026. Slovakia would be the ninth EU country to allow it.

But there is no date for owners. Ráž didn't give one, and Tesla haven't either.

So the tracker still says Recognition Pending. I'll change it as soon as the letter is confirmed as sent.

Who decides in Slovakia

The Štátny dopravný úrad, the State Transport Office, is the type approval authority. It sits under the Ministry of Transport. My regulators page lists taa@mindop.sk as their type approval contact.

Slovakia are not running their own technical assessment. They are recognising the Dutch one.

The Dutch RDW granted a provisional approval on 10 April 2026, under Article 39 of Regulation (EU) 2018/858. Any other member state can accept that for its own roads, in writing.

That letter is the FSD approval Slovakia still needs to send.

Eight have done it so far: the Netherlands, Lithuania, Estonia, Denmark, Belgium, Slovenia, the Czech Republic and Croatia.

What changes for owners

Nothing yet.

Recognition decides what is allowed on Slovak roads. It is not a software release. Tesla still have to switch it on for eligible cars and software versions, and they haven't said when.

So if you're waiting on Tesla Assisted Driving in Slovakia, the legal bit comes first and the button comes later. Tesla haven't put a date on either.

You stay responsible for the car. TAD (FSD) is driver assistance. Ráž said it himself: you are still the driver.

No Tesla demo rides are listed for Slovakia on my demo rides page.

How Slovakia could vote at the TCMV

Slovakia have not published a voting position. Recognising the Dutch approval doesn't commit them to one.

Reuters quoted Ráž saying the data shows these cars reduce the accident rate. That reads supportive. I suspect Slovakia will vote yes when the TCMV vote comes round, but that is my guess, not a published position.

An EU wide approval needs a qualified majority in the committee. They last discussed it on 6 October 2026 and didn't vote. December is the earliest.

I'll update this page the day the letter lands.

FAQ

Is Tesla TAD (FSD) approved in Slovakia?

Not yet. The tracker says Recognition Pending. The ministry said on 7 October 2026 that the letter would go within days. As of 11 October 2026 nobody has confirmed it was sent.

What is the recognition letter?

A written notice telling the Dutch that Slovakia accept the RDW approval of 10 April 2026 for their own roads. It's the Article 39 route, the same one the eight countries before them used.

Would Slovakia be the ninth country?

Yes. Reuters reported that on 8 October 2026. The eight before them are the Netherlands, Lithuania, Estonia, Denmark, Belgium, Slovenia, the Czech Republic and Croatia.

When can Slovak owners use it?

No date. Recognition sorts the legal side. Tesla then have to enable it for eligible cars and software versions, and they haven't said when. Until they do, there's nothing to switch on in Slovakia.

Am I still responsible for the car?

Yes. TAD (FSD) is driver assistance, so you are responsible at all times. The minister said it himself: you are still the driver.
