Current Tesla FSD Status in Romania
RAR has received and is reviewing the RDW provisional approval dossier. The Dutch approval is not valid in Romania, where vehicles with FSD Supervised cannot be used on public roads because the Road Code prohibits releasing the steering wheel
“Regarding Romania’s position on the recognition of this provisional approval, it must take into account not only the aspects related to the homologation of the system itself, but also the aspects concerning the circulation of vehicles equipped with these systems on public roads. In accordance with the Romanian Road Code (Government Emergency Ordinance No. 195/2002, as subsequently amended and supplemented), such a vehicle cannot be used on public roads in Romania. ... Art. 99 (1) The following acts committed by natural persons constitute contraventions and are sanctioned with a fine in the 1st class of sanctions: 13. releasing the steering wheel, handlebars, or control lever of the vehicle while driving. In accordance with national legislation harmonized with EU legislation, as long as the provisional approval granted by the RDW is not recognized in Romania, the structural modification of a vehicle by installing the Tesla FSD Supervised system is not legal.”
