Tesla FSD Ireland: TAD approval status
Tesla Assisted Driving, TAD (FSD), used to be called FSD Supervised. It is not available in Ireland yet. Tesla say they are working with Irish authorities. Nobody has given owners a date.
Tesla working with Irish authorities on TAD (FSD) approval. Anticipating arrival in due course (Tesla, 23 Sep 2026). No customer release.
Regulator: NSAI / Department of Transport
Last change: 23 September 2026
What this means for owners: Nothing to switch on. "In due course" is not a date.

Ireland Tesla FSD: is TAD available right now?
No.
Tesla said on 23 September 2026 that they were working with Irish authorities and anticipating arrival in due course. Nice to hear. But that's engagement language, not an approval.
Ireland have not recognised the Dutch RDW provisional approval for consumer use. So the tracker says Engaged.
Who decides in Ireland
NSAI handle national and European type approval work. The Department of Transport set the policy frame.
My regulators page lists julie.elliot@nsai.ie as the named type approval contact, with the NSAI contact form as backup.
Ireland are an EU member state, so the Dutch Article 39 route is legally available. They haven't used it for TAD (FSD) yet.

What changes for owners
Nothing yet.
Irish owners cannot activate TAD (FSD). That includes cars that already have the hardware.
No Tesla demo rides are listed for Ireland on my demo rides page.
You stay responsible for the car when it does arrive. TAD (FSD) is driver assistance.
How Ireland could vote at the TCMV
Ireland have not published a voting position.
Tesla's "working with authorities" line doesn't tell us how Dublin will vote in committee. I wouldn't read it as an FSD approval Ireland have quietly given, either.
An EU-wide approval needs a qualified majority. December 2026 is the earliest.
I'll update this page the day Ireland recognise the Dutch file or the TCMV actually votes.
FAQ
Is Tesla TAD (FSD) approved in Ireland?
No. The tracker says Engaged. Tesla said on 23 September 2026 that they were working with Irish authorities and anticipating arrival in due course. That is not an approval.
Does the Dutch approval count in Ireland?
No. Ireland have not recognised the RDW approval of 10 April 2026 for ordinary owners.
Who is the Irish regulator?
NSAI for type approval work, with the Department of Transport on policy. My regulators page lists the NSAI contact.
When could Irish owners get TAD (FSD)?
No date. Tesla used "in due course". The next EU step is a TCMV vote, December 2026 at the earliest, and Ireland could still recognise the Dutch file nationally before that. Neither has happened.
Am I still responsible for the car?
Yes. TAD (FSD) is driver assistance, so you are responsible at all times.
